Lowering Barriers to Employment w/ KB White & Colleen McCormack

Individuals with arrest and conviction records often face barriers to employment due to unfair stigma and legal restrictions. This 90-minute workshop with K.B White and Colleen McCormack-Maitland from the Legal Action Center will help participants understand their legal rights in the job market and workplace, as well as strategies to lower barriers such as record sealing, Certificates of Relief and Good Conduct, and "evidence of rehabilitation."

We will also discuss the newly passed laws NYS Clean Slate, which will one day seal many people's New York records, and NYC Fair Chance for Housing, which addresses housing discrimination against people with records.
